2004—Present
For several decades at the Renzi Center James has taught classes as varied as Lego building, ceramics, and role-playing games. But students come back session after session for his most popular class: Wire Art.
Artbreak 2023
Artbreak! is the yearly children’s art festival produced by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council. The week-long event is for 3rd graders in Caddo Parish schools.
This gathering of diverse students gave James another opportunity to teach his wire art.
The Bakowski Bridge of Lights
on the Texas Street Bridge 2021–Present
This project has James teaching school age students how to make their own LED light art displays for the Texas Street Bridge.
During the original eight-month artist residency James worked alongside Broadway Lighting Designer, Jason Lyons, to create public art installations of interactive lighting over the Red River. He continues to assist with teaching and programming for the project.
Libraries
In multiple parishes of Northwest Louisiana, James offers wire art workshops in conjunction with local libraries and their annual summer reading programs.
